Working in Putney

What we see in Putney homes.

Putney is one of our quieter regular areas, fewer jobs than Clapham or Wandsworth, but each one tends to be bigger. Mansion blocks like those along the Lower Richmond Road have original parquet under decades of carpet, often in surprisingly good condition once it's lifted, cleaned and re-glued. The terraces running up toward the Heath are largely pine. The newer family-house developments backing onto the common are engineered.

Mansion-block parquet is where we spend the most time in SW15. The original blocks, usually oak, sometimes pitch pine, were laid in herringbone and basket-weave patterns that look stunning once restored. The process is more about block-by-block lifting, cleaning of old bitumen and re-bonding than it is about sanding, with the final sand-and-finish coming together as one continuous field.

Housing stock: Mansion blocks along the river, Victorian terraces up toward the Heath, modern family-house developments around Putney Vale.

Coverage: Putney is a 25–30 minute drive for us and we work the area regularly, usually monthly. Surveys booked within the week.

FAQ — Putney

Common questions.

Our mansion-block parquet is loose in places and missing blocks. Is it saveable?

Almost always. Loose blocks lift, get cleaned of the old bitumen and re-glue cleanly onto a flat subfloor. Missing blocks we cut from matched reclaimed stock. The repaired sections become invisible after the full sand and finish.

Do we need permission from the building manager to refinish the floor?

Most mansion-block leases require notice for noisy works rather than formal permission. We can supply method statements and finish specifications to forward to the building manager.

Do you offer free surveys?

Yes, for almost every postcode we cover. We come out, look at the floor, take measurements and send a detailed quote within 48 hours. No deposit, no obligation.

How dusty is the work?

Our sanders run on sealed Bona and Lägler extraction units that capture around 95% of the dust at source. You won't get the cloud-the-house effect that older sanders leave behind.

Can I stay in the house?

Yes. We work room by room and leave the rest of the house usable. You can sleep in the property the same night a sand is happening, in a different room.
