Who we are
This site is operated by WM Solid Floors Ltd (company number 13895366), registered at 128 City Road, London EC1V 2NX. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
Questions about this policy or your data can be sent to [email protected].
What we collect
When you request a quote or contact us we collect only what we need to reply and to plan the work:
- Your name and contact details (email, phone, postcode)
- Details about the project (rooms, approximate area, any notes you choose to share)
- Optional photos of the floor that you upload to help us quote
We also collect a small amount of information automatically when you visit the site, used only for our own analytics. See “Cookies and analytics” below.
We do not knowingly collect data from children. We do not buy or sell mailing lists.
Why we use it
We use your information to respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, arrange a site visit and carry out the work you ask us to. The lawful basis is performance of a contract (or steps taken before entering one) and our legitimate interest in running our business.
Who we share it with
We do not share your data with third parties for marketing. We may share it with:
- Our email and hosting providers, strictly to deliver and store the messages and the website
- Professional advisers (accountant, insurer, solicitor) where it is necessary and lawful
- Authorities such as HMRC where we are required by law to do so
How long we keep it
Quote enquiries are kept for up to 24 months so we can pick up where we left off if you come back to us. Records related to completed work and invoicing are kept for 7 years to meet UK tax and accounting obligations. After that, we delete or anonymise the data.
Cookies and analytics
We run our own analytics on our own servers. We do not use Google Analytics or any other third-party analytics service, and we do not share this data with anyone for marketing.
When you visit the site, our analytics records:
- The pages and URLs you view, and when
- The referrer (the site or link that brought you here)
- Basic device and browser information (user-agent, screen size, language)
- Your IP address, which we use to derive approximate location (typically city or region)
To do this we set a cookie (or equivalent local-storage identifier) in your browser that lets us tell repeat visits apart without identifying you personally. Because this is not strictly necessary for the site to function, we ask for your consent before setting it, and you can withdraw consent at any time by clearing the cookies and local storage for this site in your browser.
The site also uses strictly necessary storage required for it to function (for example, remembering your progress in the quote form during a single visit) which does not require consent.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct it or delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it in a portable format. Email us at [email protected] and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
